Join nationally acclaimed storyteller, author, and Shakespearean actor David Novak, from Asheville, North Carolina, for a workshop entitled Exercising the Listener, telling so people will listen. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Des Moines Community Playhouse in Classroom A on the first floor.
David will lead workshop participants through experiences that will develop the storyteller/speaker abilities to effectively engage the listener’s attention and energy.
This entertaining workshop will benefit anyone interested in creating a better stage presentation including storytellers, lawyers, teachers, counselors, ministers, or medical workers. The principles presented will be especially useful for those in sales, public speaking, or students taking speech and theatre. Even parents or grandparents who wish to preserve family history through story will enjoy this informative session.
The workshop is open to the public and sponsored by The Two Rivers Story Spinners. Admission is $20.00 payable at the door by cash or check or free for members of Two Rivers Story Spinners. Reservations are not necessary. The Des Moines Community Playhouse is located at 831 42nd St. in Des Moines. Workshop attendees are asked to park on the street, as there will be two performances at the Playhouse that evening. Enter on the east side of the building.
