You are invited to Tellabration, a worldwide celebration of story and joy, that will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at Beaverdale Books, 2629 Beaver Avenue. Come enjoy the stories presented by expertly trained bards that make up The Two Rivers Story Spinners Professional Storytelling Guild as they perform for young and old alike.
Tellabration will include performances from featured teller Barb Funke, storyteller, puppeteer, ventriloquist, magician and professional clown. Barb tells down home stories of farm life in Iowa and funny stories about her adventures in life.
Maureen Korte, known for her Irish folktales and stories of growing up Irish in Iowa will also present, as will Joann Schissel who will tell a tale about Des Moines during the days of the 1930s Great Depression. Organist and peace teller Margery Sudbrock will perform along with nature teller and humorist Denise Franck. Tomme O’Neil, fresh from the east coast and comedy clubs, will delight you with stories of growing up in Maryland and the people who shaped his life. Chinese teller Cyndi Chen will present a story from her homeland of Taiwan and Kate Winslow, from Alaska, will be there to tell you about her adventures of biking and sailing the world.
Complimentary wine, soft drinks and snacks will be served. Come early and stay late and browse the locally owned Beaverdale Book Store. There is no admission to the event but free will donations are encouraged. Performances suitable for youth and children will be held 10:30 to 11:30am and 1:00 to 2:00pm. Additional performances will be held 7:00 to 9:00pm for audiences 12-years old and up.
